Acapulco Rock, better known as Chimney Rock because it looks like a chimney on top of the rocky island, is Lake Martin’s most famous landmark.
Decorated with artful graffiti, this iconic location is a popular summer party spot where more adventurous types like to jump from the 60 foot high cliffs into 120 feet of Tallapoosa River water.
There’s also a shorter cliff, known as Chicken Rock, to jump from that is about 20 feet above the water.
How to Get There
You can get to Chimney Rock by boat, Jet Ski or whatever watercraft you can use on Lake Martin. Expect a good size crowd if visiting Chimney Rock on a summer weekend, but if you go early in the morning or during the week there’s a chance you could have the rock all to yourself.
