Goat Island is nestled just north of Martin Dam, measures only about 70 acres, or a half-mile long and has plenty of friendly goats in residence during the summer months!
Bring the kids out for the day and have a great time hiking with the goats, but remember not to bring any animals of your own!
Boaters often cruise the waters along the island in hopes of catching a glimpse of the island goats and if you honk your horn the goats have been known to traipse down the rocky hill, eager to see what yummy goodies the boaters may have brought for them to munch on; they especially enjoy lettuce, fruit and (who would’ve guessed) Cheetos!
How to Get There
You can get to Goat Island by boat, Jet Ski or whatever watercraft you can use on Lake Martin. In fact, the goats arrive by boat each spring when the owners bring them to the island for the summer. Owned by the Baker family, these goats get an island vacation each year usually from April to about October depending on the weather.
